Plant Micro-Habitats in San Pedro Park and Vicinity

Mike Vasey will give a brief talk at 10 AM about the micro-climates and micro-habitats of San Pedro Valley Park followed by a hike up the Brooks Falls and Montara Mountain trails to the fire road and then down to some outstanding rocky outcrops above the saddle between Montara Mountain and San Pedro Mountain.

In a presentation designed for children from kindergarten through 8th grade, Stephanie Doyle, aka the Beetle Lady, will discuss the amazing diversity of arthropods and highlight some of their fascinating  defenses. She will bring live arthropods to observe and then lead the kids outside to sample our local insects.

Nature Journaling for Families with John Muir Laws

How do you create memories that last? Do you want to improve your nature drawing skills? Would you like to keep a nature journal with your family? Bring pencils a, colored, pencils, and a sketch pad for each family member for a two-hour workshop to get you journaling together. This is an activity for everyone, adults are the role models and kids are the inspiration.

In her 2nd presentation designed for children from kindergarten through 8th grade, Stephanie Doyle, aka the Beetle Lady, brings her second delightful presentation that will discuss the amazing transformation that so many insects undergo. From worm-like larvae, many insects magically transform into the curious and beautiful adults that we know as butterflies, beetles and flies. Others look the same and just grow wings.

Stephanie will bring live arthropods to observe and then lead the kids outside to sample our local insects.
