There is no limit regards who can attend or what age. We simply want people, and especially children,  to enjoy our park.  The only camp-out requirement is that you must send an email to me, Jim Steele at [email protected] and inform me of your name and contact info and let me know how many people are attending.

After the early rains, December is the best time to observe the widest variety of mushrooms. Comb the trails with an expert on mushroom identification, J.R. Blair.

Dr. Tom Parker will speak to us on Saturday, January 26 at 3 pm on “Potential Impact of Climate Change on California Vegetation”. Since Humans are the principal drivers of climate change & most of us heed the latest warnings of “12 yrs till irreversibility”, established at the Climate Conference in Poland this month, Tom’s ideas have a heightened relevancy.

On Feb. 16, at 3pm, Sue Pemberton will speak to Pacificans in our Visitor Center. Ms. Pemberton is a Curatorial Assistant in the Department of Ornithology & Mammalogy, at the California Academy of Sciences, where her work focuses primarily on marine mammals.

On the evening of March 16, at 5pm, Dr. Todd Braje will present a program that will help explain how the first Americans settled in the “New World”.

Come to our Visitor Center on March 30, at 5pm, and you will meet a scientist with non-stop curiosity who’s identified 1000 new species of Formicidae, mostly in the protected area of Madagascar, but who still enjoys learning about our local ants: Dr. Brian Fisher.

On April 18th at 1:00pm, at our Visitor Center, you and the children can see Tahoe, a grey fox, and 4 more lively fellas: an opossum, a Red-tailed Hawk, a porcupine, and a Turkey Vulture, while learning about their role, their niche in their ecosystem & community.

Meet at the Visitor Center on Sat, April 27, 8:00am. Jim will play recordings to help the group hear the challenging answers of males defending their territories.

On Saturday, May 11, at 6pm, in our Visitor Center, Kathy Kellerman, well-known for having a green thumb, will show us how to grow species that she’s successful with in the nursery she manages at Pedro Point Headlands.
