Cavity Nesters Recovery Program

Volunteers are needed for the Cavity Nesters Recovery Program at San Pedro Valley Park, which has been a great success for two springs now. The program involves many volunteers who establish and monitor nest box trails for cavity-nesting birds. Volunteers check these boxes weekly during the breeding season for parasitism, predation, egg counts, nestlings, and fledged young.

The Bird Alliance holds two training sessions in the fall and then will work with new volunteers to place and monitor the boxes. On average, volunteers spend an hour or two, 2-3 times a week from mid-March to July, monitoring the boxes.
