The Marvelous Diversity of Arthropods and Their Defenses

Monday, June 25 at 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Insects are food for all kinds of organisms, so they spend a lot of time trying not to get eaten. Learn about the cool ways insects defend themselves.  We’ll search for hidden bugs, play with warning coloration, meet live arthropod, and learn how bugs defend themselves.

After her presentation and display of live arthropods, kids will use insect nets to sample and observe some of the insects hiding in our park’s vegetation.

Featured Live Arthropods:

  • Vinegaroon
  • Flat Millipede
  • Bumblebee Millipede
  • Arizona Blonde Tarantula
  • Bess Beetle
  • Death Feigning Beetle.
