Campout with the Friends of San Pedro Valley Park sleepover.

There is no limit regards who can attend or what age. We simply want people, and especially children,  to enjoy our park.  The only camp-out requirement is that you must send an email to me, Jim Steele at [email protected] and inform me of your name and contact info and let me know how many people are attending.

At 6:30 PM the Friends of San Pedro Valley Park will host a barbecue, supplying hamburgers, hotdogs, and vegie burgers. The event is free for Friends’ members, and Friends will bring additional potluck items. We encourage other attendees to do the same and/or donate $5/person. A morning pancake breakfast will also be supplied. All campers must vacate the picnic ground by 8 AM Sunday morning to accommodate the next incoming group.

The rangers lock the entry gate by 7 PM, so you must arrive before then. (I have a key to use only for emergencies).  The gates are reopened at 7:30 AM. Although some choose to sleep out under the stars, we recommend you bring a tent, along with your sleeping bags. Sometimes the fog rolls in and you can get quite wet. Dogs are not allowed in the park. Accordingly,  there is good wildlife viewing. Deer have become rather tame and you can often approach them within 10 yards. Bobcats, gray fox and Great Horned Owls are likely to be seen along with bush bunnies and California Quail. There are picnic tables and benches but you might bring camp chairs. We will do some stargazing and a night walk.
